Sixty people have died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Kennedy Malama says the deaths represent only those going to health facilities and that a high number of Brought In Dead -BIDs- has been noted.

Dr. Malama says the country has also recorded 2 ,595 Covid cases out of 11,059 tests conducted.

Speaking during the routine Covid updates in Lusaka on Friday, Dr. Malama said some of the patients being seen in hospitals are presenting with sneezing, lower back ache, mild on and off headache while others have negative Covid tests.

He expressed concern over the continued self-medication by some members of the public and urged them to seek medical attention.

And Ministry of Local Government Permanent Secretary Mathew Ngulube has announced that all permits for weddings, birthday parties, kitchen parties, chilangamulilos, conferences, workshops and other gatherings issued by local authorities are suspended.

Ngulube said burial permits will be issued subject to adherence to Covid regulations and has issued a warning to bars, night clubs and casinos flouting the Covid 19 guidelines.
