The Democracy and Motherland Defenders Coalition – DMDC- has noted with concern the unapologetic position by the United Party for National Development -UPND- to resume campaigns in the face of national calamity.

DMDC National Spokesperson Andrew Ntewewe says the UPND have continued to conduct campaigns, activities which are potential COVID-19 super spreaders.

Ntewewe says that despite various appeals from stakeholders , the UPND have, refused to rescind its decision to resume campaigns amidst the national mourning of Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.

Meanwhile, Ntewewe says the Coalition has also received numerous reports of violence perpetrated by the UPND.

Ntewewe says there are reports of a Patriotic Front -PF- cadre who was allegedly killed by UPND cadres in Western Province.

He says acts of violence are barbaric and unacceptable in a democratic country like Zambia.

Ntewewe has since called for UPND President Hakainde Hichilema to condemn the violence perpetrated by his cadres.
