The Catholic church in Mansa Luapula province has called for continued peace, love and unity as the country heads towards the general elections.

Meanwhile, Bishop of Mansa diocese Right Reverend Patrick Chisanga says maintaining peace, love and unity will be the best way to mourn the first Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda.

Bishop Chisanga says Zambia, which is founded on peace cannot afford to lose it just because of an election.

He has assured the nation that as a church, it will continue to pray for peace before, during and after the August polls.

Bishop Chisanga was speaking when he blessed the reopening of renovated and Rebranded Chibote Hall at Kalebalika Spaita centre in Mansa on Saturday.

Earlier, PF Member of the central committee Chitalu Chilufya thanked the Church for praying for peace in the nation.

Dr. Chilufya who is also PF Mansa central parliamentary candidate further assured the church that the government of President Edgar Lungu will continue to engage the church in matters of national importance.
