Vice President Inonge Wina has described First President Kenneth Kaunda as a visionary who worked for the improvement people’s welfare.
Wina says Dr. Kaunda pioneered the establishment of factories, various infrastructure such as schools and health facilities across the country.
She was speaking in Mansa on Tuesday in a speech read for her by Deputy Secretary to the cabinet for Finance and Economic Development Mike Masiye.
This was during the funeral service of Dr. Kaunda held at United Church of Zambia -UCZ- St Paul’s congregation.
The Vice President has called on Zambians to pursue the vision of Zambia’s first President of peace, love, unity and development.
She said Dr. Kaunda has laid a foundation for love, unity and peace for Zambians.
And Luapula Presbytery Mansa North consistory Bishop Darius Chitalu said Dr. Kaunda will be remembered for his commitment to spread love and preach peace and unity in the country.
Meanwhile Dr. Kaunda’s son Panji has urged political parties to preach peace, love and unity amongst themselves to honor Dr. Kaunda and his legacy.
Lieutenant Colonel Kaunda also thanked the people of Luapula province for turning up to mourn Dr. Kaunda saying he greatly loved Zambia and humanity.
