The Zambian Government has formerly requested a financing arrangement with the International Monetary Fund to support their reform efforts, the Fund has confirmed.
IMF Media Relations Officer Lucie Mboto Fouda said in a statement that the Fund is currently assessing the request.
She said as part of this assessment, and following an invitation from the Zambian authorities, Abebe Aemro Selassie, Director of the IMF’s African Department and Alex Segura-Ubiergo, mission chief for Zambia are visiting Lusaka from 7 to 9 December 2020 for high-level discussions.
And Presidential spokesperson Isaac Chipampe has confirmed that President Edgar Lungu yesterday met Dr Abebe Aemro Selassie at State House and discussed a wide-ranging issues regarding Zambia’s relations with the IMF going forward
