Energy Minister Matthew Nkhuwa says load shedding is now a thing of the past.

Nkhuwa says the water levels at Kariba Dam, where the country gets most of its electricity have tremendously improved.

He says there is 40 percent increase of water levels at the dam this year compared to 2020 where at this time water levels were at 13-point 2 percent.

Nkhuwa says the water levels at the Kariba are still accumulating and a further increase is expected.

He was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka on Monday.

He has however expressed concern with activities of vandalism on ZESCO transformers that have been reported in some places.

Nkhuwa who has described the acts as sabotage said the thefts are causing black outs that have been mistaken for load shedding.

He has warned culprits that the ministry is working in collaboration with the police and that they will be dealt with accordingly.
