After realising that UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema is beyond political redemption and his political fortunes cannot be revived ahead of the August 12 elections, Veteran Politician, Vernon Mwaanga has decided to dump Hichilema for Socialist Party president Fred M’membe.

Sources close to Hichilema say Mwaanga arrived at the decision to ditch the UPND leader after assessing HH’s popularity and style of politics which he said was not inspiring to the Zambian people at all. Mwaanga’s choice of M’membe was based on the fact that the socialist party would be a force to reckon with after 10 to 15 years.

Mwaanga confided in sources that there seems to be no political party currently, that would dislodge the PF under President Edgar Lungu due to the robust infrastructure development project which has been rolled out in all parts of the country and the various Empowerment programs being undertaken.
