Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has shut down schools and suspended public gatherings for a period of 42 days as Covid cases surge in the second wave.

Bars,Cinemas and Night clubs have also been closed with public transport between districts to be banned after Thursday.

At home the opposition United Party for National Development is still insisting that there is no second wave of Covid19 and they will continue conducting mass rallies because they want to win the August 12 elections at all costs. UPND leader Mr Hichilema has said that the ruling Patriotic Front government is just trying to use Covid 19 cases to stop him from campaigning.Mr Hichilema has vowed to continue his campaign and says nothing will stop him not even Covid 19.
