A case of suspected COVID-19 at Nyimba Boarding Secondary School in Eastern Province may derail registration of voters at the registration center, Zibani Zambia has learnt.
According to a source who preferred to remain anonymous at Nyimba Boarding School, the institution which is a registration center has recorded a report of suspected COVID-19 among a minor girl.
“I am not authorized to talk but we have a girl who is 11 year old girl and our student we suspect has COVID-19,” said the source.
He said the multi-sectoral team may soon confirm these details and headed and trace the primary contacts.
“We have a registration centre here and depending on the outcome of a medical investigation, we may temporarily close the registration to allow disinfecting the whole school and prevent the spread,” said the source.
Efforts to get a comment from Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya and Electoral Commission Chief Executive Officer proved futile.
