The Green Party has accused the UPND of importing violence into Kitwe following last week’s fracas during Youth Day celebrations.
Green Party President Peter Sinkamba says the conduct by UPND cadres who fought with Police officers on Youth Day is anarchy which must be condemned by all well-meaning Zambians.
Sinkamba told ZNBC News in Kitwe that Kitwe is a peaceful town and such violent acts by youths did not originate from within.
He has called on the opposition party to rein in its cadres and ensure such anarchy does not exhibit itself during the August 12 General Election.
But, UPND Spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa said his party does not subscribe to any form of violence.
Mweetwa said the UPND Youths in Kitwe were merely provoked by the police who stopped them from making movements.
