PF Candidate for Kamimba Ward being introduced to voters by Provincial Chairman Andrew Lubusha

The Patriotic Front has scooped the Kamimba Ward of Lumezi District in Eastern Province.

The PF candidate Blaston Ngoma managed to poll a winning total of 1,691 votes while the UPND candidate Timeyo Mvula polled 559 votes. The NAREP candidate Davies Phiri came out in the last position with 194 votes.

The Kamimba Ward seat fell vacant after the death of a Ward Councilllor Nasauka Banda who had polled 1,548 votes in 2016 against the UPND candidate Timeyo Mvula who had polled 784 votes.

In the same year, Rainbow Party candidate came third after polling 91 votes while the FDD’s Whyloss Phiri who had polled 73 votes.

Kamimba Ward has a total voting population of 6,128 as per the 2016 register which ECZ will be discarding in the 2021 General Elections.

The voter turnout based on the old register in 2016 stood at 42 percent.
