Chief Lundu of the Senga people of Chama District has commended the PF Government for starting the construction of the Chama-Matumbo road, saying it has eased transportation and enhanced the lives of people in the area.

Chief Lundu says the PF is the only Government that has actualized the construction of the Chama-Matumbo road which is a link between Muchinga and eastern provinces.

He says the road has for a long time posed a challenge to the people in the chiefdom and surrounding areas.

Chief Lundu however urged Government to expedite construction of the remaining 61 kilometers of the road .

He said this when Housing and infrastructure Minister Vincent Mwale paid a courtesy call on him at his palace shortly after touring the Chama-Matumbo road.

And, Mwale who was leading a team of RDA engineers assured the chief that Government will ensure that the road is worked on in the shortest period because of its importance.

He said Government understands the urgency on the need to work on the road and has since placed it as a priority road.

Speaking earlier, Mwale who paid a courtesy call on Muchinga province Minister Malozo Sichone said the ministry has advertised a tender for the construction of roads under the rural connectivity roads for selected districts in Muchinga and Southern province.

He said this is under the 200-million-dollar rural roads connectivity spearheaded by Government in collaboration with the World Bank of which Eastern, Luapula, Northern and Central , works have already started.

And Sichone thanked Government for the commitment to work on the roads in the area.
