The government has disbursed over 94 million Kwacha towards the rehabilitation of the 70-kilometer Chipete-Kalasakando road which links Chembe in Luapula Province to the Democratic Republic of Çongo – DRC.

Chembe Member of Parliament Sebastian Kopulande and sub Chief Kapwepwe of the Ushi people who flagged off the rehabilitation works said the road is an economic route because it is mainly used by farmers to ferry their produce to Chembe and the DRC.

And Dr Kopulande told the cheering residents who witnessed the flag-off that the move is part of the Patriotic Front’s agenda to deliver what they promised, adding that the party needs to be voted for in the 2021 general election.

He further urged Professional Engineering construction limited, the contractor engaged to work on the road to deliver quality works.

And Sub Chief Kapwepwe praised Government and has assured President Edgar Lungu of his support.

Earlier, Chembe District Commissioner Mushitu Mumba said the opening of the road will spur economic activities between the people of Chembe, Mwense and the DRC.
