THE United Party for National Development (UPND) has described the ruling Patriotic Front’s use of village headmen from Dundumwenzi to mobilize itself in the constituency as an act of desperation.

But PF Lusaka Province Secretary, Kennedy Kamba, has advised the UPND to remove the big log in their eyes before they could see the straw in the eyes of the PF.

Headmen from Dundumwezi promises to campaign for PF

Yesterday, over 30 headmen from Dundumwenzi visited the PF Secretariat in Lusaka to show solidarity to the ruling party and assure them that they will win the 2021 polls in the constituency.

And addressing the headmen from all villages in Dundumwenzi constituency, PF Secretary General Davis Mwila expressed confidence of changing the disappointing election results the party suffered in Dundumwenzi constituency in the 2016 general elections.

But UPND Deputy Secretary General Patrick Mucheleka has advised the PF to desist from involving headmen in politics as they preside over people who have different political affiliations.

Mr. Mucheleka said despite this move by the PF to use traditional leaders; the UPND will still beat the ruling party in the constituency by a wider margin in the 2021 polls.

However, Mr Kamba, has wondered how the UPND does not see the use of Chief Mukuni as their campaigner as wrong but only see the PF interaction with the chiefs as wrong.

“As a ruling party, we have a duty to listen to the Chiefs who seek developmental for their area. Our President does not choose on where to take development and those chiefs have a right to lobby for development since the UPND MPs cannot do it,” said Kamba.
