Traditional Leaders in Mpongwe District on the Copperbelt have commended government for bringing a mini Hospital in Munkumpu area.

Representing other Chiefs in the District, Chief Machiya of the Lamba people said the mini Hospital will shorten the distance covered by people to access health care services.

Chief Machiya says the people of Mpongwe are impressed with the developmental projects government is taking to the District.

The Traditional Leader has however appealed to government to ensure the contractor engages the local people in the construction of the Hospital.

Chief Machiya said this during the ground-breaking ceremony of Munkumpu mini Hospital in Mpongwe District.

And Health Minister Jonas Chanda said the mini Hospital will serve the people of Chief Machiya, Chief Mwinuna and Chief Ndubeni of Mpongwe District.

Dr. Chanda said government wants to ensure that health care services are taken to all parts of the province.

The Minister said President Edgar Lungu cares for all the people in the three chiefdoms, hence the construction of the Mini Hospital in the area.

Meanwhile, Copperbelt Province PF Chairperson Nathan Chanda said President Lungu is taking development to all parts of the country without segregation.

Mr. Chanda who is also Luanshya Mayor has assured the traditional Leaders that the mini Hospital will create jobs for the locals
