A lawyer by the name of Elvis Mukupa , who works for Martha Mushipe’s law firm has revealed that Martha Mushipe declined to be part of the team tasked by Mr Hichilima to petition the eligibility of president Lungu to contest in the August elections.

According to Mr Mukupa, Miss Martha Mushipe had received a letter on the 1st of April 2021 from Mr Hakainde Hichilima tasking her to work with UPND Katuba Member of Parliament Bampi Kapalasa and Laura Miti the humans activist who also champions the UPNDs agendas, to work together in formulating a petition against Edgar Lungu’s eligibility to stand in the August elections.

According to Mr Mukupa, Miss Martha Mushipe refused to comply citing that the petition was just another waste of time. The other to also refuse to participate in petitioning was Miss Laura Miti. However her reasons for refusing are still unknown.

Miss Mushipe has been on cross roads with the UPND, ever since they abandoned her in 2018 when she almost lost her practicing license and her law firm.

The UPND Katuba Member of Parliament Bampi Kapalasa had chosen to go at it alone in petitioning before he was joined by UPND Member Joseph Busenga. However the petition was dismissed on grounds that the matter was already cleared and closed.
