Energy Expert Johnstone Chikwanda has described government’s initiative to empower youths with 50 fuel tankers as a Landmark empowerment gesture.

Chikwanda says President Edgar Lungu has demonstrated leadership as this is a first of its kind in the energy sector.

He says investment in energy sector requires huge resources and for government to take such a step shows commitment to improving the sector.

Chikwanda says the empowerment is something unprecedented that must be commended.

He has also called on the youths to seize the opportunity and utilise fully.

Chikwanda has also encouraged the youths to join the Trackers Association of Zambia in the fuel business so that they learn best practices.

He has urged the Energy Regulation Board- ERB to expedite processing of licensing to ensure the youths operate quickly and efficiently.

Chikwanda was speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka on Saturday.
