No Government in the history of this great nation has achieved these milestones which the PF Government has achieved in the health sector.
The PF Government embarked on a transformation agenda of the health sector, strengthening health systems in pursuit of universal health coverage. This was meant to address the run down health
systems and performance indicators such as HIV/AIDS and TB, maternal and child health, supply chain management.

We have built
6 specialist hospitals,
46 district hospitals,
50 Mini Hospitals,

We have modernised Hospitals through refurbishment and re-equipment
2. HUMAN RESOURCE
Recruited 25,000 health personnel and deployed across the country equitably.
We have established the first ever standalone medical university and expanded other training
4. SUPPLY CHAIN
We have transformed Medical Stores limited into the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency, and decentralized it into 9 modern regional hubs; further central warehousing was expanded from 7,000 pallet space to 32,000
5. HEALTH CARE FINANCING
We have introduced mandatory health insurance scheme to eliminate out of pocket payments and inch towards health for all
6. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
We have established the National Health Research Institute to adduce evidence to inform health policy
7. HEALTH SECURITY
We have established the Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI) to strengthen disease surveillance and intelligence and enhance epidemic preparedness and response; further this anchored the Africa Centre for Disease Control in the SADC region.
All these investments culminated into improved service delivery indicators including, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS/TB, Malaria and Non- Communicable Diseases. Further, specialist services were introduced which included Kidney Transplant, Advanced Cardiac Services, Neuro Surgical Services, and Rehabilitation Services.
Going forward, we are committed to continue on this trajectory and do even more.
