The Electoral Commission of Zambia –ECZ- says the many petitions it is receiving from various stakeholders have not in any way hindered their work and preparations for the 2021 general elections.

This follows numerous petitions from stakeholders including political parties for some senior officials at the commission to resign for failing to handle electoral matters ahead of the 2021 polls.

But ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, Patrick Nshindano said the petitions have actually worked in favour of the commission as this has kept them in check and balance.

Mr. Nshindano has stressed that stakeholder petitions are critical to the country’s electoral process and to keep the commission on its toes.

He says ECZ welcomes stakeholders’ views and will help the commission to deliver credible, free and fair elections in 2021.
