Seven hundred and fifty bicycles donated by President Edgar Lungu to village headmen and women in Mporokoso, Chimbamilonga and Kaputa constituencies in Northern Province have been delivered.

The bicycles were officially handed over during a ceremony held in Mporokoso on Tuesday.

And speaking through representative, Chief Mumpolokoso said the Head of State deserves commendation for the many developmental strides recorded under his leadership.

He noted that government has made progress in improving the welfare of people especially those in rural areas.

Chief Mumpolokoso has since thanked President Lungu for helping to alleviate the challenges faced by village headmen in the country.

And Edgar Chagwa Lungu Multipurpose Empowerment Cooperative Coordinator Martin Mukuka appealed to traditional and their respective subjects to rally behind President Lungu’s leadership.

Earlier, Northern Province Assistant Secretary Sineva Kambenja, who handed over the bicycles, expressed confidence that the bicycles will ease mobility for the village headmen and women.

President Lungu has donated bicycles to village headmen and women in Northern Province with 3, 250 being distributed under phase one of the exercise.

Each of the 13 constituencies in the province is set to receive 250 bicycles.
