The Levy Mwanawasa COVID-19 isolation Centre welcomed the new year in style, as it recorded a birth of a baby born to a COVID-19 patient.

The pregnant patient was recently admitted to the COVID-19 facility.

Senior Medical Superintendent Dr. Penias Tembo disclosed that the mother who was admitted to the infectious Centre progressed to labour was delivered via cesarean section on New Year’s day.

“Both mother and baby are in good health “ he said as he briefed the Minister of Health who was at the facility to present new year hampers to the newly born babies.

The minister paid glowing tribute to the Medical staff country wide as they continued to shine with excellence in their work.
